Role in the project: IREC is the Project Manager and Coordinator of the consortium. It is furtemore responsible for the requirements of the open and interoperable software solution, it develops the forecasting tool and the algorithms advancements and is responsible for the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). Finally it is involved int the the Spanish demo.

The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research conducts research and innovation within the science and technology energy field. They contribute to sustainability via development of new technological solutions, promotion of scientific and technological know-how related to sustainable energy and its efficient use. IREC has large expertise and skills in research and industrial projects.

Technical validation and market scalability of EV-grid flexibility services

EV integration continues to expand across Europe, but adoption is hindered by systemic challenges - thus limiting technical performance and market potential of EV as flexibility assets for the grid. The 4th FLOW Thematic Workshop will bring hands-on implementation experiences, technical analyses and regulatory perspectives from European testbeds to explore how services such as V2G, V2B and Behind-the-Meter optimisations can support smarter and more resilient energy systems. Second Thematic Workshop: Smart Charging in Action: Tools & Lessons from the Field

In the workshop, we will explore how new business models and economic opportunities are driving the development of e-mobility, with a particular focus on Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) integration—enabling electric vehicles to interact with home energy systems as active components. We will also examine how the EVrich solution supports coordinated and grid-aware electric vehicle routing for urban charging hotspots, optimizing routes and charging points based on energy availability. Finally, practical insights will be shared from the deployment of a direct current (DC) microgrid in Prague, highlighting Behind-the-Meter (BTM) optimization and its integration with energy management systems (EMS/BEMS), offering a comprehensive view of real-world challenges and opportunities.
